One of the most amazing Morgan 3 Wheeler

15.2.15 / No Comments

One of the most amazing new vehicles to be launched in modern times, the Morgan 3 Wheeler harks back to a time when motoring was more involving, adventurous and carefree.

The Morgan Motor Company was established in 1909 and its first products were various iterations of Morgan three wheelers. Ones that could do ‘over the ton’ (160 km/h) no less. Guess what, here we are, back more than a century later, with a modern interpretation of this extraordinary machine.

Obtaining Australian Design Rule (ADR) Compliance has been a protracted process, during which time the Morgan 3 Wheeler has had to be re-engineered from a 3-wheeled motorcycle, to a 3-wheeled car. The Australian technical requirements are unique in the world in this regard. Whilst it has been a long and costly process, we do believe that we now have a better product and we can claim to have the best Morgan 3 Wheelers of any market.

Most of the technical changes to the ADR version of the ‘M3W’ as it has affectionately come to be called, are ‘under the skin’, but some are obvious.

The most obvious visual change is the redesigned induction system, revised to meet ADR noise regulations. A larger air-cleaner is now mounted under the bonnet, as a result the induction pipes are now visible at the front of the engine. These design changes ensures that this already unique car is even more distinctive in its Australian livery, having acquired a ‘moustache’.

Other changes to the ADR version of the M3W include: ·        Re-positioned front indicators
·        Wind deflectors, in place of a wind screen
·        Collapsible steering column
·        Padded steering wheel
·        Higher roll-over hoops with headrests
·        Dash padding
·        Larger ‘car’ side mirrors
·        Central mirror
·        Side repeater indicators
·        Side reflectors
·        Seat belt warning light and buzzer
·        Brake failure warning light
·        Third brake light
·        Reversing light.

Morgan Aero SuperSports

The Aero SuperSports is the absolute flagship of the Morgan model range – the culmination of over 100-years of engineering excellence and driving passion.
It has a modern all-aluminium chassis, fully-independent suspension all round and a BMW 4.8 litre V8 engine which produces 270 kW of power and 490 Nm of torque.
In standard trim, it is equipped with a 6-speed automatic gearbox, but a 6-speed manual gearbox is also available as a no-cost option
The aluminium bodywork of the Aero SuperSports is Superformed, a process by which the whole car is effectively blown into shape, The passenger compartment has a layer of ash hardwood sandwiched between the alloy outer body panels and the rigid aluminium chassis. This wood will absorb energy and will help maintain the longevity of the alloy body over the life of the car. Morgan calls this process 21st Century Coach building
If the V8 engine is the heart of the SuperSports, then its bespoke aluminium chassis is what gives it its unique Morgan character. Developed under racing conditions, the lightweight chassis is strong and provides the sturdy basis for the all-independent suspension.
With its lightweight construction, weighing only 1180 kg, the Aero SuperSports sprints to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds.
The aluminium roof panels store neatly in the boot, adding fresh air fun to the journey. Alternatively with the roof panels in place, the cosy cockpit environment makes the SuperSports a sublime luxury touring car.

Morgan Aero Coupe The strong and rigid vehicle

13.2.15 / No Comments

The Aero Coupe is an advanced supercar designed for practical long-distance touring. The strong and rigid vehicle is inspired by the GT3 Aero that has enjoyed a number of racing victories. The enclosed cockpit of the coupe body style takes the Aero experience to the next level in terms of comfort and practicality with a large and secure boot in the rear for luggage.

Constructed entirely from aluminium which is a third of the weight of steel, the Morgan Aero Coupe combines performance with environmental responsibility and a high level of safety. A stiff aluminium chassis cradles the 4.8 litre BMW V8 engine and the 6 speed manual or automatic transmission. The individual alloy parts are formed from machine tooling and hand-assembled by skilled craftsmen at the foot of the Malvern hills.

The fixed roof and enclosed cabin give a sense of security and silence which is only interrupted by the intoxicating purr of the BMW V8. Ash hardwood surrounding the cockpit and doors can be hand polished in a colour of your choosing. The leather work is stitched with twin needles and combined with suede-effect panels for contrast and a dynamic sporty feel. A powerful standard sound system creates audio definition as crisp as the lines of the exterior.

The power to weight ratio is around 320bhp per tonne and a 0-100 km/h of 4.5 seconds combined with a top speed of 273 km/h is effortlessly achievable.
The Aero Coupe comes with a high level of standard specification.

The Morgan Plus 8 has been described as ‘a true drivers car’ yet it is also surprisingly economical to run.
The Plus 8 is the most comfortable classic Morgan that the company has ever built. The convertible mohair roof is easy to erect with a double thickness liner for insulation. Air conditioning is standard equipment in the luxurious leather-lined cockpit which includes a lockable stowage compartment. A radio/CD - with a high quality speaker system is also standard.
The Plus 8 is also the only classic Morgan available with a six speed automatic transmission. This can be operated in two modes, ‘Sport’ and ‘Auto’. In ‘Sport’ mode up-shifts take place at the maximum engine speed of 6500rpm, while smooth down-shifts are assisted by a ‘blip’ of the throttle. The steering and the ABS brakes are power assisted.
